June 28th can't come soon enough. We drive by "Timber" many times a week and I'm sure the neighbors have us figured out. Although, it doesn't seem real yet that this beautiful home could finally ours (to be fair sometimes the mound of paperwork and details are hard to look past).
The day we put the offer in was a whirlwind. We met with our realtor and signed a stack of papers and left knowing at our bid would be received that next morning (this home is corporate owned so we are working with 9-5 weekday hours). By 9am that next morning there was a counter offer and we said a quick prayer and offered our final and best amount for the home. By 1pm, my husband called to tell me the good news that they accepted our offer! Since that time we have been pricing screen doors, refrigerators, and other household appliances, meeting with hour loan officers, making phone calls regarding insurances and home inspections, and dreaming up what it could possibly feel like that first night in the home. It's been good :)
My mind is going nuts over paint colors and design ideas for the home. I've got all sorts of fun stripes and stencil ideas for the closets and laundry rooms and warm color palettes for the rest of the home. June 28th will be here before we know it! Prayers that the rest of this process goes as planned!

Progress!
It's been awhile since an update, but the road to home ownership was stalled out for awhile.
Our family has been suffering as we lost a dear loved one in an auto accident last month. Words cannot describe the deep grief, disappointment, confusion, and loss we have felt. My heart continues to hurt and we are reminded to take life one day at a time and to constantly be living with intention and walking in love. My step-father was the only father figure I knew and I am trying to cling to the memories and opportunity to have him in my life even if it were just for a short time. It just hurts...
But we are trying to move on and get back to our lives the best we can. Our good news that my husband and I have taken the first step towards getting our home and we are officially pre-approved! Meeting with a lender was a little intimidating, but it was an awesome experience and we were approved for just the amount we had prayed for.
But the really exciting news is that we will be placing an offer tomorrow on an incredible home! We have spent the past few weeks in deep prayer over this home and with the confirmation of the peace that God provides and the support of our families, we feel that we are just going to go for it! Things are still up in the air. Our offers might not be accepted, but we are just plain-stinkin-excited.
Here is a teaser: We will call her Timber.
(as for the check list: She is a jackpot!)
