Looking back our long moving weekend was hilarious. Not much went as planned, but, hey, we are here right?
Thursday morning was incredibly exciting. We drove up to the north side, ate breakfast at McDonald's, and signed an incredibly large stack of paperwork.
After we got our keys Seth had to sprint home to collect our couches that were being delivered early (how convenient...they changed the delivery time to before we even had our keys!) Thankfully Seth had his friend sit outside our house and hang out by the furniture so they could still deliver it.
Unfortunately, I had to go to work and a simple and short day turned into a chaotic and busy one. But it kept me busy and kept me from moving boxes in the 100+ degree weather. Did I mention yet that this was one of the hottest days of the year?
(don't worry...he is fine :)
By Thursday evening we had our apartment furniture and boxes in the house and we made our way up to Seth's brother's house to grab the rest of our things. We were able to get everything moved and at the house by 2am Friday morning (woo hoo for only getting a uhaul for one day).
Tina, our cat made the move Thursday as well. Also two of my three rugs came that day.
Friday morning was surreal. I took a picture of my feet that first morning in our house. So thankful.
We moved more boxes, but really we all just needed to recover from the incredibly tiring and hot day yesterday. It was this morning that we learned that we would not have hot water until the following Friday. Bummmmmmer. But we just kind of took it easy and took things in.
Around 4:00 the real excitement started. We had one more load of things to unload from a trailer and we rushed to do it before the storm came. As soon as we finished unloading the trailer we watched our neighbors lawn furniture fly through the air. The storm came so quickly and hit hard. A piece of our roof flew off (thanks for the housewarming gift!) and our power was out within a few minutes.
After the storm passed we went and picked up some dinner and made a run to the hardware store. By 10pm our lights were back on. 2 reasons why we are incredibly thankful for this 1. we had one candle, no cell phone power, and we were walking around a new house filled with boxes and 2. central Ohio was hit so hard by this storm that it was projected that it might be a week before everyone had there power back. So we couldn't complain.
Saturday my mom came and took care of the crazy, overwhelming kitchen area. I am so thankful for you mom! And then Seth's entire family ended up at our house (as his brother still didn't have power). But it was so much fun having a place where we could all be and we had plenty of helpers!
Sunday evening we lost our power again in a second storm!
Boo!!!! This time it was out around 24 hours.
All in all, it really was a great weekend.
We had plenty of time and love from family and honestly that was my favorite part.
