this is part four of the Love Series (or our love story)
Part 4:
The Fall semester of my senior year of college there was a lot of talk about marriage. I knew I was ready, but I just wasn't sure about all of the silly details. I started to wonder if Seth might propose around my birthday or Christmas.
In November 2008, Seth and I attended a leadership conference at the Hersey Lodge in Hersey, Pennsylvania. Seth had the opportunity to perform over that weekend and also lead worship on Sunday morning, which was a pretty cool deal. That Saturday night Seth seemed particularly nervous, which is incredibly odd for the many times he has performed. Up til that point and over the course of 5 years and hundreds of concerts/shows I had never seen him nervous. Prior to him playing he kept asking if I could be up front and grab his guitar from him after he was done.

He sang a song that he had written called "The Faith of a Seed" (which to this day is one of my favorite songs of his) and after he was done he grabbed me and pulled me up on the stage. After a few sweet things, he got down on one knee, proposed ("will you mur me?"), then dropped the ring :) It was such a sweet moment and an absolute surprise!
Wedding planning began quickly after that day. We loved the idea of a destination wedding in South Carolina under the live oaks, but it just didn't work out for us. We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding, but finding a venue can be tough. Thankfully our families are very tied to numerous people in our area and a dear family that is very close to Seth's was kind enough to let us use their property. It was the perfect location with privacy, hills, a pond, and a windmill. We walked the area numerous times before finding the perfect spot for the ceremony and the tent.
Our wedding could not have been more perfect. I am so thankful that I was married prior to the pinterest fad. Everything we did felt original to us and felt like us. On July 3rd, 2009, we were presented with a slightly overcast day and a refreshing temperature for July. People lined up to sign our guest book and took seats. So many loved ones were able to attend and Seth's father was the one to marry us. I will never forget what it felt like coming over that hill and walking down that aisle to Seth singing Edelweiss (a lullaby that my dad used to sing to me). According to our guests, just as I walked over the hill the sun came out behind me and shined the rest of the wedding. It. Was. Perfect.
At the end of the night our family surprised us with fireworks and we drove back to our apartment to prepare for our honeymoon. The entire drive home we just talked about how wonderfully blessed we are and how nothing could not have gone better. It was a wonderful start for the rest of our lives.....and they lived happily ever after :)
