A few glimpses

I realize that my blog is missing something. Although this blog will go many directions, I initially started it as a blog to document the buying of our first house and the process of decorating it. I'm glad I blogged along the journey of buying the house, but I am struggling to document the furnishing aspect.

I'm a perfectionist.

It is hard to let others see my house when I don't feel it is "ready yet".
I struggled with having family over early on, because it "wasn't ready yet". I needed to snap out of it.
I have such high hopes for this place and I really love decorating. I really love finding  those perfect pieces, thrifting, painting and sewing and I believe with time I am going to be super proud of our home. But for now we still have all of our tools and random decor laying all over our formal dining room (no dining furniture yet), boxes and random crafts all over the floor of our loft, mismatching bedding the guest rooms, the walls are a flat white paint all over the house, and our master bedroom is as plain as ever. But I need to document it all.

I need to start somewhere.

So here are some sneak peeks of our house where we are right now. I'm excited with where we are and the potential this house has. It was beautiful house empty so it would be hard to mess it up :)

{self portraits}

proof that my husband can figure anything out.
we had the camera for a day when he took these pictures of me.

We got a camera!

I am starting to see a pattern that I am a once or twice a month blogger. cool.

Life has been good. Many of our weekends are busy with visitors and this house is getting lots of love. The biggest update of all is that we have made a big investment and purchase this month that looks like this.
Holy moly. we are excited.
(I'm sure everyone else  (cough cough...Hi Holly!) is as well. my lazy camera phone pictures could scare anyone away!)

What is cool/funny about the whole DSLR thing is that I have dreamed of having one since high school but the opportunity never came up. I did my best with my point and shoot and honestly it worked for me just fine. But over the past year my husband has been drooling over this camera and its videography performance.

Seth is our worship and arts director at our church and incredibly artistic and talented. He researches like a boss and has the ability to pick up any instrument or electronic and just figure it out.  He seriously turns into a pro by the time I get off work. It is ridiculous!

So we both win with this camera.

Since no one reads this (but Holly...holla!) I might as well be honest and put it out there that I am starting a process to try out this whole photography thing. It will be awhile before anything comes from this and I'm totally riding the learning curve right now. My goal is to try to get something up and running around this time next year. We will see.

And if all else fails I will just be able to take super cute pictures of our own kids.
For now I'm practicing with Tina.
